HOW TO ENROLL AT MAIN STREET SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS: 1. Submit an Application. 2. Submit the following documents, which will be sent to you via mail, email or you can download after your application have been received. • Emergency Contact Information • Date Selection Form • Student Health History Form 3. Write and submit two essays on the following topics: A. Discuss an artist that has influenced/inspired you and explain why this artist is important to you. B. Explain why you want to attend Main Street School of Performing Arts and why creating and performing in the arts is important to you. Essays should include: an introduction that captures attention and gives necessary background information, a clear thesis that answers the question directly, at least three focused body paragraphs and a conclusion that restates or summarizes main points. Essays should be typed using the Times New Roman font, double spaced and have 1 inch margins. 4. Attend an Arts Placement Workshop in your major once items 1-3 have been completed. Course selection occurs immediately following the Arts Placement Workshop (See Date Selection Form for more details). 5. In August, all students must meet with the school counselor to finalize their course schedule. Information with specific dates and times will be mailed in spring. ADMISSION POLICY
The Main Street School of Performing Arts is a public charter school that seeks to provide all students with the opportunity to receive an education built upon the foundation of high academic standards, and express their talents in music, dance and theatre in a community centered in the arts. Accessibility, diverse perspectives, balance and the pursuit of a student’s highest potential are the core values of the Main Street School of the Performing Arts. Enrolled students are expected to embrace the school’s mission and community values. School capacity is not to exceed 320 students in grades 9-12. Students who submit timely enrollment materials shall be enrolled unless the number of enrollees exceeds the capacity of a program, grade level, building, or class. Admissions are made via lottery should capacity be exceeded. Charter school law only allows enrollment preference for siblings.
